PIONEER WORKS
USA. 2013-2015
In 2013, Ella was hired by artist Dustin Yellin to become the founding Program & Managing Director of Pioneer Works, Center for Art and Innovation, a non-profit cultural center in Red Hook, Brooklyn, dedicated to experimentation, education, and production across disciplines.
As the Center’s first Director, she was integral in shaping Pioneer Works’ residency, exhibitions and performances programs, as well as in building local and international partnerships. She worked with the founder to turn an abandoned brick and wood iron factory into one of New York’s most exciting and progressive art institutions; and helped create the center's core identity - one that transcends disciplinary boundaries to foster a community where alternative modes of thought are activated and supported, and where culture is accessible to all.
Spearheading Pioneer Works’ first ever annual fundraiser, coined the Village Fete, as well as the center's trademark monthly event: Second Sundays, an open house featuring open studios, performances and live music. Ella organized over 25 exhibitions alongside concerts, conferences, music, film and performing arts festivals, science talks and fundraisers.
